Hiring: AWS Backend Engineer
Location: Hybrid (Charlotte, NC) or Remote (EST Hours)

Are you passionate about building modern cloud-native applications and transforming enterprise data platforms? We're looking for an experienced AWS Backend Engineer to join a high-impact modernization initiative supporting one of the nation's leading energy companies.
What You'll Do
-Design and develop scalable backend solutions on AWS.
-Modernize ETL workflows into event-driven streaming architectures using Kafka and AWS services.
-Build reusable APIs, backend components, and MVP user stories.
-Participate in backlog grooming, story mapping, technical design, and solution architecture.
-Develop across multiple application tiers, including APIs, databases, and cloud services.
-Leverage DevOps CI/CD pipelines for automated build and deployment using Terraform, Concourse, and Jenkins.
-Work in an Agile XP environment with pair programming and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
-Collaborate closely with client teams, providing technical guidance, mentoring, troubleshooting, and knowledge transfer.
-Break down complex technical challenges into manageable development tasks while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Required Qualifications
8-12+ years of software development experience including strong cloud development expertise.
Hands-on experience with AWS services, including:
AWS Lambda, API Gateway, EMR, Glue, Hudi, Kafka, Flink.
Strong experience with:
Java, Spring Boot, Python / PySpark
ETL and data processing
Experience with DevOps and CI/CD using Terraform, Concourse, and Jenkins.
Experience with AKAMAI.
Working knowledge of Spark, MongoDB, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
Experience working in Agile, XP, Pair Programming, and TDD environments.
Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.
AWS Associate or AWS Solutions Architect Certification preferred.
Ability to understand future-state architecture and provide technical direction to engineering teams.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Amazon Bedrock.
